China-Cambodia Ties: Two countries enhance Belt and Road cooperation

中柬關(guān)系：兩國加強(qiáng)“一帶一路”合作

China and Cambodia have increased cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years through joint projects.

近年來，中國和柬埔寨兩國通過聯(lián)合項(xiàng)目不斷加強(qiáng)“一帶一路倡議”下的合作。

Workers are racing against time to build a new landmark in Cambodia – the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport. It's located in the same city, where the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park is situated. Invested and constructed by Chinese enterprises, the airport is an iconic project under the Belt and Road Initiative.

工人們正爭(zhēng)分奪秒建設(shè)柬埔寨的新地標(biāo)——暹粒吳哥國際機(jī)場(chǎng)。該項(xiàng)目和聯(lián)合國教科文組織公布的吳哥考古公園位于同一個(gè)城市。該機(jī)場(chǎng)由中國企業(yè)投資建設(shè)，是“一帶一路倡議”下的一個(gè)標(biāo)志性項(xiàng)目。

FENG LI Project Manager, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport Project "We are now working on the mechanical and electrical installations at the terminal building and its decorative design. And we're also busy concreting the pavement of the airfield area. We're determined to finish the whole project in three years as planned."

暹粒吳哥國際機(jī)場(chǎng)項(xiàng)目經(jīng)理馮立表示：“目前，我們正在實(shí)施航站樓的機(jī)電安裝和裝飾設(shè)計(jì)工程。同時(shí)，忙著實(shí)施飛行區(qū)路面混凝土澆筑工程。我們決心按計(jì)劃在三年內(nèi)完成整個(gè)項(xiàng)目?！?/p>

The project kicked off in March 2020, when the COVID outbreak had just started. During the past two years, the pandemic has posed a big challenge, making the cross-border transportation of both employees and materials a real headache.

該項(xiàng)目于2020年3月開工建設(shè)，適值新冠疫情爆發(fā)。在過去兩年里，新冠疫情給該項(xiàng)目帶來了巨大挑戰(zhàn)，員工和物資的跨境運(yùn)輸成為了一個(gè)令人頭痛的問題。

FENG LI Project Manager, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport Project "We've taken strict measures to avoid large-scale infections that may suspend construction. We've asked our staff to get vaccinated and quarantine when necessary, and we've also been monitoring everyone's body temperature."

馮立表示：“我們采取了嚴(yán)格措施，避免可能造成施工暫停的大規(guī)模感染，要求工作人員在必要時(shí)接種疫苗并進(jìn)行檢疫，并對(duì)每個(gè)人的體溫進(jìn)行持續(xù)監(jiān)測(cè)?！?/p>

The project involves more than 1,000 local workers. The airport is scheduled to be completed in March next year and become operational in October.

該項(xiàng)目涉及1000多名當(dāng)?shù)毓と耍?jì)劃于明年 3 月竣工，并于 10 月投入運(yùn)營。

TEKRETH SAMRACH Chairman, Steering Committee for Construction of Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport "The airport itself will promote trade, investment, tourist arrival, air transportation services. This will lead to economic growth and job creation for Cambodian people. Tourist industry plays a very important role in Cambodian economy. It takes up like 15 to 17% of our GDP. This is going to be the biggest airport in Cambodia."

暹粒吳哥國際機(jī)場(chǎng)建設(shè)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)主席泰科萊斯·薩姆拉克（TEKRETH SAMRACH）表示：“該機(jī)場(chǎng)將促進(jìn)柬埔寨的貿(mào)易、投資、游客抵達(dá)及航空運(yùn)輸服務(wù)，助力柬埔寨國家經(jīng)濟(jì)增長，為柬埔寨人民帶來更多的就業(yè)。旅游業(yè)在柬埔寨經(jīng)濟(jì)中發(fā)揮著十分重要的作用，約占柬埔寨國內(nèi)生產(chǎn)總值的15% -17%。暹粒吳哥國際機(jī)場(chǎng)將成為柬埔寨最大的機(jī)場(chǎng)?！?/p>

And bilateral cooperation goes far beyond infrastructure. The Chinese company in charge of the construction of the airport is also carrying out an educational project, aiming to upgrade facilities of 27 schools across Cambodia. The company says they attach equal importance to both project quality and social responsibility.

中柬兩國的雙邊合作遠(yuǎn)不止基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施建設(shè)。這家中國公司不僅負(fù)責(zé)該機(jī)場(chǎng)建設(shè)項(xiàng)目，同時(shí)還實(shí)施一項(xiàng)教育設(shè)施改擴(kuò)建項(xiàng)目，旨在改善柬埔寨全國27所學(xué)校的教育設(shè)施。該公司稱，他們不僅重視項(xiàng)目質(zhì)量，還重視社會(huì)責(zé)任。

We also try to raise our staff's awareness in this regard."

云南建設(shè)投資控股集團(tuán)有限公司國際工程部總經(jīng)理胡開林表示：“我們努力使用環(huán)保產(chǎn)品，嚴(yán)格遵守當(dāng)?shù)胤煞ㄒ?guī)，保護(hù)森林等自然環(huán)境，防止污染。同時(shí)，我們還努力提高員工在這方面的意識(shí)?！?/p>

Chairman Samrach says Cambodia and China have very good relations, and he hopes both sides can seize the opportunity to enhance cooperation in trade, investment and cultural exchanges.

薩姆拉克（Samrach）主席稱，柬埔寨和中國的關(guān)系非常好，希望雙方能夠抓住機(jī)會(huì)，加強(qiáng)貿(mào)易、投資和文化交流方面的合作。
